Saturday I turn 28, which means I’m clinging to my 20’s with all I’ve got. I plan on being very zen and grown up about turning 30 when the time comes, but for now I’m hanging onto this decade like 30 is where life ends. I can be immature and unrealistic for a short time, right?
And in the spirit of immature and unrealistic, here is my birthday wish-list:
1. A Kitten
The kind that streeeeeeetches out, revealing a soft underbelly of kitty-cat fluffiness that demands your face buried in it, pronto. Also must not need to eat or poop. Must not scratch things, or have any flaws. Must love cuddling.
2. A Backyard that looks like this:
Of course, I am thankful for my house and its imperfections. But how much more could I embrace what I’ve been given if it was picked up off my street and planted right here?
3. A mani-pedi
This will always be welcome.
4. Fall weather that lasts forever
I always forget how incredible fall is until suddenly the sky is bright blue, the trees are flaming red and the weather sits right in that 70-degree sweet spot. Never leave, fall. Never leave.
5. A bazillion-dollar shopping spree at Homegoods
You know, just to pick up a handful of essentials.
6. A Georgia win over Florida in football!
Come on bulldogs! (This is NOT unrealistic)
7. World peace and all that.
I’m not evil, guys.Okay, really. I’ll settle for a gorgeous fall day spent hanging out with my boys, dressing my son up in a costume and snagging a couple of chocolate trick-or-treat candies from his bag. I’m so happy for another year. Hope you have a beautiful weekend!

Oh #5 please! Happy Birthday!!! So I turned 29 in July and I’m generally the youngest of all my friends, so they are all starting the year of 30th birthday parties leading up to mine which will be one of the last. It actually helps to go through everyone else first and realize that not all that much changes (but that doesn’t mean that I’m not clinging to the next 9 months like a kid with a popsicle on a summer day).
