My Future as a SuperBlogger: Expectations of Haven

I may have mentioned once or 500 times that I’m attending Haven, a conference for DIY/home bloggers which is finally happening this week.

On Wednesday night, if you feel the earth shattering? That was my whole universe exploding from pent-up anticipation and unbridled joy at finally meeting some fellow blog friends who I’ve just about fallen in love with online. I’ll be that over-eager girl who is so much more awkward in person than anyone expected. And that’s REALLY awkward.

But I also have HUGE expectations for what I’m going to learn from Haven, and the jaw-dropping impact it will have on my blog society.

This is me today, blog-wise:

“I have no professional training of blogging“.

But by the end of this week? This will be me:

A SUPERBLOGGER!

Whips up easy tutorials faster than a speeding bullet!
Writes up to 12 posts per day!
Completely finishes whole projects after starting them!
Smart enough not to post weird photoshopped photos of myself on the blog!
WITH LEGS JUST LIKE THAT PHOTO!

It’ll be like blog-puberty. I’ll come home and my blog will be instantly grown-up, totally profesh, acne-free, and in 5.3 seconds I will have finally painted all those half-finished pieces of furniture that have overwhelmed our entire garage space.

Looking for a speedy, easy way to update your whole house top-to-bottom for under $5 in the space of 12 minutes? Look for my tutorial, probably coming soon!

And hey, HGTV? Need someone who completely has their life together for a new show you’re working on about fixing up a foreclosure with a tiny budget and always finishing what you start? Need that person to also be photogenic? That’s me! After Haven! (Yes, Haven will make me become photogenic.)

It will also make me instantly lose all the baby weight!

Plus, John and Sherry of Young House Love are the keynote speakers, so I’m pretty sure we’re going to become insta-friends immediately after I shake their hands, then together we’ll convince Weston and Clara to get married.

I’m just saying. He’s a very nice boy from a very nice family.

All these things are happening. See why I’m so excited?

…And hey, if none of that happens, it’s like my buddy William Hung says: “I already gave my best and I have no regrets at all.”

Let's connect

  1. I’m SO glad I found your blog…you are friggen hilarious!!! And I share your dreams of superblogdom, so be sure to post tips on a live moment-by-moment feed from Haven! 😉 Have a great time.

  2. we are going to have so much fun!!! AAAH! i am excited to learn more about slipcovering, design, carpentry. those are the things i want to excel at! ok, well not excel but maybe accomplish…. at least once…. before i die.
can not wait. and if clara doesn’t work out, emmy is sweet and comes from a very nice family, too.

    • HOLY COW HOLY COW HOLY COW. that is seriously the most put together thought in my mind. I’m more excited and WAY more awkward than Kelly. SO let’s just pool all of our awkward and ridic excitement and have one HUGEMONGOUS squeal/hug fest. YEE!! 🙂

    • And Emmy comes with fun inlaws for him too! Total bonus. Let’s make this happen.

  3. HAAAA!!

But, in my mind you are already totally profesh and acne-free!

This cracked me up. I can’t wait to meet you! Nice legs, btw. Please wear that outfit to the cocktail party.

    • LMAO. That would solve my problem of having nothing to wear! Bahahaha. I’d love to see how everyone reacted if I showed up in that, and just stood around sipping cocktails as if I was completely normal.

  4. I wish we were going to Haven just so we could meet everybody! Have a blast – we can’t wait to hear all about it!

  5. LOL! Way cute. Have lots of fun!!

  6. UM ALL OF THIS TIMES INFINITY. Also – I’m with Beth – please wear this to the cocktail party! That way I can tell everyone who I want to meet to “watch for Wonder Woman! I will be her awkward sidekick!”

  7. I am SO looking forward to the superbloggerness that is yet to come. I also really look forward to your accounting of Haven and all the fun you have there!!

  8. Are you dragging that poor baby all over the conference? to be cuddled and kissed and coo’ed over? Rough life for the little one;) Watch out and make sure she doesn’t get a huge ego from all that attention!

  9. I’m so glad you have your expectations in check … I wouldn’t want you to expect too much, you know? Otherwise you might feel a bit disappointed and all afterwards …

    🙂

    Linda

  10. Yay! This is coolio! I love your energy! That’s why you will rock it- and with those legs, how can you not?

  11. Oh, I DO need to completely change my home for $5 in 12 minutes. How did you know? Will look forward to the promised tutorial. All professional like. Have fun! (And don’t tell Will Bower about your plans for Weston + Clara 🙂

  12. YAH! I’m so excited too! Looking forward to meeting you 🙂

  13. Ok, so can there be two superbloggers? because I really want those legs too and the mad blogging skills, but I’ll take what I can get. Oh and if you need a super fun, quirky sidekick on your HGTV show, i’m your girl.

  14. Hahaha! You go Super Blogger!

So jealous about Haven! I’d love to go one of these years!

  15. ha ha ha! Okay, when you become the next HGTV star can I be your personal assistant? I can’t make it to Haven but I’ll willing to let your superblogger goodness rub off on me!

    Please! Please! Please!

Seriously.. I hope you have a blast and make sure to update us on the blogger “celebs” you get to meet!

  16. HAHAHAHA, that’s me laughing awkwardly loud and probably clapping in random geeked out fashion. And my expectations are like the polar opposite of yours, I’m just crossing my fingers there’s at least one person who doesn’t find me irritating, inappropriate and/or offensive. We will see very, very soon. 🙂

    • LOL at the random clapping! Seriously, I’m giggling right now. I was just telling Andy that I’m most definitely going to say something inappropriate and/or offensive that I end up regretting later. Let’s stick together. haha. 🙂

  17. We all have different aspirations…. I’d chuck every bit of the blog world to have the body under the cape!

    ~Bliss~

  18. LOL! Loved this post…just made my day. 🙂 I hope we get a chance to meet this week at the conference!

  19. Girl, you crack me up! You already are a superblogger in my mind!
    xo

  20. Great post! 🙂

  21. Don’t forget us little bloggers when your legs get all muscularly….

Part of me is sad that I cheaped out. The part of me with social anxiety is glad I can rest easy the rest of the week.

Have fun! Can’t wait to hear all about it!

  22. Woo hoo!! Can’t wait to meet up at Haven! I’m super excited AND super nervous, but know it’s going to be amazing. 🙂
    xo Heidi
PS — your sweet kids will be fine!!

  23. Love all of the pictures! I love the analogy of you and Mr. Hung as well. haha. Maybe you’ll be like the “pants on the ground” guy instead and take the world by storm!

    Have fun at the Haven!
(First time here, BTW. Cute blog!)

  24. haha I will still love you even if you don’t become superblogger. I don’t know that I’ll ever be able to go to Haven (or if I have the nerve?) because this time of year is sort of important what with finals and school ending and etc. etc. But I will live vicariously though you and hope I can meet some bloggy people another time!

  25. Wear that Wonder Woman outfit to Haven and they’ll never forget you!!!

Hope I’m invited to the wedding (in about 30 years) too!

Have a blast and can’t wait for your Super Blogger tutorials!!
    Kelly

  26. Kelly, I already think your blog is ALL THAT so I can’t wait to see how it’s going to get even better! Have fun, we wanna hear all about it!

  27. You so funny!!! I don’t think your blog can get any better but I can’t wait to hear all the juicy details when you get back. Have fun!

  28. Hi Kelly! You are hysterical! So wonderful to meet you this week at Haven 🙂 I hope you had fun and let’s definitely be in touch!

P.S. This is an awesome post too, you said it right on. Now go be super!

  29. Look forward to hearing all about it.

  30. This post is reason #498532 why we’re bloggy besties.
