Top Posts of 2011

Um, what the heck just happened to 2011? Didn’t we just ring in the new year about three days ago? Okay, if you say it’s time for another new year’s eve party, I won’t fight you.

Today I’m taking a quick look back at the top five most-viewed projects on View Along the Way from 2011. I’m linking up to the Top Projects of 2011 Parties over at Southern Hospitality blog and Blooming Hydrangea, so head on over that way for some beautiful projects from across the blogosphere.

5. After Photos of the Dining Room

This is one of the first rooms we “finished” – even though it’s not really finished yet and I still want to make some changes – but there’s something so satisfying about befores-and-afters isn’t there? Click here to see how that room started. Warning: it’s not pretty.

4. Chipboard Art Project

This little project was so easy, fun and relaxing. My favorite part? You almost can’t mess it up. In my world, that’s an important virtue in a craft project. Click here to see how I made it, and let me know if you attempt something similar!

3. Four Dollar Pantry Lighting Solution

I owe this one to Andy – he found a way to evenly light our small closet pantry using a motion sensor and very inexpensive, very energy-efficient Christmas lights. Every day when I open that pantry door and find that I can read my cereal box, I’m so glad we finally tackled this problem. Click here for the details on that one.

2. Easy Free Frame-Hanging Hack

There’s just something about a simple, cheap solution to an annoying problem that I can’t get enough of. When we found a way to use a paint stirrer and a screw to hang gallery frames without the headache, I couldn’t wait to share it with you. Click here to check that one out.

1. Upholstered Bed Tutorial

Yep, this one took on a life of its own! We started by making this version

…then redid the whole thing with a more-complete-than-you-could-have-ever-hoped-for tutorial on the new one. It’s the most-viewed project from the year, and it happens to also be my favorite. I’m kind of especially excited because it’s finished!

If you want to see more, you can also check out my house tour page, which is not finished so promise me you won’t judge, deal?

I hope you’ve had a fun, busy, happy year and I’m so thankful you’ve been here, taking this journey with Andy and me! I’ll have an inspiring post from you here Thursday about creative ways to display your crafts, so don’t forget to stop by then. Thanks for reading!

  10. Found you via Blooming Hydrangea’s Year in Review (I have yet to do my own, getting there eventually) and I am loving your projects! I have spent the last hour or so reading through all of your headboard/bed tutorials – absolutely SO entertaining and informative!! I have been considering making my own as well with upholstered sides etc and after reading your adventures, I may definitely try it now!

Anyway, just wanted to say how nice it is to have stumbled upon your fab blog and that I’m your newest follower 😉 Oooh and Happy New Year of course! xxx

  11. I totally lied. I didn’t find you on the Year in Review – I actually found you via White Lacquer. Obviously, all of the partying from New Years has destroyed the total number of braincells required to remember where you’ve left off one website to jump to another. Sigh.

  12. Happy New Year, Kelly! I love all your awesome projects especially your impressive upholstered bed project and your beautiful dining room transformation!

May you have an even more fabulous and exciting new year. Looking forward to follow your decorating adventures!
