*Tagged!*

There’s a little game of tag going around the ol’ blogosphere (I love using that word like it’s a normal thing to say).

I’ve been tagged by a few of my favorite bloggers: Erin at His and Hers Blog, Lisa at Shine Your Light and Jean at Flower Hill Design, so I’m going to jump right in!

Here are the rules which I’m quickly going to not follow.

You must post the rules
Answer the 11 questions that the tagger posted for you; then create 11 questions to ask the people you’ve tagged
Tag 11 people and link them in your post
Let them know you have tagged them

I took a handful of questions from each of these lovely ladies, so here goes.

1. What’s your biggest pet peeve?

I collect pet peeves. I have hundreds, and I store them on a shelf where I can stare at them and ponder them. Like people who drive the speed limit in the left lane. If you are not the fastest person in the left lane, you need to get out of my the way. The use of the word “irregardless.” “Unnecessary” quotation marks. VOICEMAIL. Why does it still exist?! I only listen to voicemails so the little icon on my phone will go away.

2. Reveal one thing your readers don’t know about you.

I have a strong (strong) fear of commitment. The fact that I’m happily married is just a testament to the quality of man my husband is. But this mostly manifests itself in my inability to remove tags from something I bought because I’m afraid I’ll want to return it, and removing the tags means I’VE COMMITTED to the purchase. I’ve had this vase from World Market for – not kidding – maybe three years. I love it and I’m not returning it. And I still haven’t taken the tag off. That’s not even normal.

3. Who is your celebrity crush?

This is absurd. I don’t have any (JAMES FRANCO) crushes outside of (JIM HALPERT) my husband.

4. What is something about yourself you’d like to change?

I would be less klutzy, have less alien-long toes, talk less and be a less awkward phone-talker.

5. What is the number one thing you hope to accomplish in 2012?

Successfully give birth. If I still have a baby in me at the end of 2012, I’m going to call this year a failure.

6. What do you enjoy about blogging?

All of it. Writing, interacting with you all, having a creative outlet and a motivator to get stuff done.

7. Favorite kitchen or home improvement tool?

We have a fold-and-store griddle that we got from our wedding registry. I love it so much that I made up a song about it and I sing that song to myself every time I use it. It goes “Fold and store griddle, fold and store griddle, fold and store GRIIIIDDDLLLLLEEE.” My songwriting abilities are legendary.

8. You’ve been forced at gunpoint to sing karaoke. What song do you choose?

No matter what song I chose, I’m confident that the moment I began singing, the gunman would turn the gun on himself and put himself out of his misery. Once in fifth grade, I won the lead in the school play. The music teacher wanted to add some songs to the play, so she asked me to audition to sing a few songs. I came to her room after school, and she played a few keys on the piano and asked me to repeat them. About three notes in, she looked at me with a sad expression and said, “I’m sorry.”

9. If you could go on any TV game show, what would it be?

You know that old show “Password” that aired forever ago, probably before I was alive? I WOULD HAVE ROCKED THAT SHOW.

10. What’s your favorite season?

Fall. No – spring. Summer? Christmastime. Every time the seasons change, I think about how much I love that new season and don’t want it to end. I’m so happy to live in a place where we get four very diverse seasons.

11. What are your thoughts on brussel sprouts?

Brussel sprouts are a giant mystery to me: I think I would like them. I feel like they’re this giant gift from God waiting for me to unwrap and enjoy, when I can get work up the courage to try them. In the meantime, I’ll revel in the mystery and anticipation.

Have a great weekend!

  1. LOL, various times throughout this post! Listen girl, if that bambino is still taking up residence in your belly come 2013, you are IN LIKE FLYNN to the Guinness Book of World Records and that would be pretty awesome, am I right?
Thanks for playing along, your posts always make me giggle 🙂

  2. LOVE your celebrity crush answer. Too funny!

    ~Fellow commitment-phobe

  3. FUN post! I love all your pictures, especially the brussel sprouts one. Jen and I can’t sing. At all. So we just sing LOUDER with the radio. Our dad, on the other hand, tells us “those that can’t sing, shouldn’t.” (He’s a music teacher). sigh.

  4. Fun answers and I must say that we share similar pet peeves but the voicemail symbol drives me insane! I just hit delete, I don’t listen to the messages. Happy Friday!

  5. Oh my goodness, you are too funny! I’m so with you on #1, especially that voicemail… oh and people spell things wrong on purpose thinking its cute… like Krazy Kuts. That kills me.

Oh and #3 – I’m the worst phone talker in the world. if you don’t have something to say, then don’t call me. if you do, then say it and get off the phone. I don’t chit chat.

I seriously laughed out loud at #4.

  6. So funny! When are you due? I know it can feel like they take forever to finally come out.
My CSA box arrived yesterday with brussel sprouts so I made them for the first time, turns out they are super yummy (yummy like a vegetable, not yummy like chocolate).

  7. you crack me up!!!!! i love number 5!!! and i am with you on v-mail… just go away already.

  8. Michaela says:

A scientific explanation to the Brussels love ’em / loathe ’em debate:
    https://www.23andme.com/health/Bitter-Taste-Perception/
An ex boyfriend’s mum once hollowed out a roast potato and hid a brussel inside – he was not fooled.

  9. Yay! Thanks for “playing”! So, no fame and fortune in your future via Idol? Maybe you’ll have to invent some fabulous “brussel sprout recipe” and become rich that way. Irregardless, you’re still a lovely bloggy friend for playing my “game.”

(Is your peeve radar beeping wildly?)

  10. woah woah woah..you’ve never had brussel sprouts? I hated them as a kid but like them now…especially when I sautee them with bacon, whiskey and maple syrup. How can you NOT like that?

  11. Absolutely hysterical! Love how you answered the questions with such honesty and humor! 🙂

  12. I’ve never received terrible news via voicemail, but for some reason I seem to think that’s the method it will most likely take. When I see that voicemail symbol panic inevitably sets in. I begin to sweat profusely and rush to listen so that the momentary (yet intense) anxiety will pass. Please people, just text me. My anxiety disorder can’t handle anything more strenuous.

  13. Omg, you are hilarious.
Try brussel sprouts already. They are underrated.
But try them with bacon, so that they’ll actually taste good. We have this great recipe to make brussel sprouts that involves shredding them up and sautéing them with bits of cooked bacon, toasted almond slivers, and a splash of red wine vinegar. Delicious!

  14. Jim Halpert is definitely up there as far as guy actor/character crushes for me too. I think the wedding episode was the one the cemented that feeling. 🙂

  15. OH my goodness I loathe that voicemail symbol too. I hate voicemail too. Maybe I should change the message to that…

  16. Hilarious as always girl! If that baby is still in you at the end of the year I’m pretty sure there will be no way to get her out. I’m confused about where you live. I thought you lived in Georgia but when you said you get 4 seasons I’m thinking I was wrong. Brussel sprouts with blue cheese crumbled on top after they’ve been oven roasted. Yum! Even the non brussel sprout people like them!

  17. I’m trying HammerSnipe for the first time!!!

  18. This was so fun! I loved getting to know you! I was tagged for something around this time – bet it was this… I didn’t even have time to check the link! Terrible! Now I wish I had. I’ve never had brussel sprouts either! And, I share your fear of commitment when it comes to removing tags. Always have. I just am afraid I want to return it… like you, sometimes every 3 yrs later!
