Andy’s Quest

This is my husband, Andy. And he is on a quest.

A quest to save his princess… (Ahem. That’s me, in this story.)
I know, I know, this will require some imagination.(source)

He’s on a quest to save his princess from living in a dungeon! (Or, a house with no decorations.)

But in order to reach his goal, he must complete certain (mathematical) challenges.

His first mathy home project was our DIY playset.

He beat that level – I mean, completed that task – with flying colors. And a few extra coins in his pocket.

But still his skills would be tested further! Would his geometry skills be a match for… an octagonal mirror made of imperfect pallet wood?!

Yes, yes they would. Project aced. Octagon, schmoctagon, he scoffed!

With two wins under his belt, my brave hero will now encounter his most difficult challenge yet: building a knockoff version of the Ralph Lauren Dustin Pendant, which is a giant dodecahedron made of VERY complicated angles and geometric hocus-pocus.

It is to be his final challenge! (That’s not true.) Can he build it? Can it be recreated by a mere mortal? The rewards are great: it will result in a finished laundry room and a happy wife.

But the difficulties are many. What even is a dodecahedron? How do you build such a thing? If he can even build it, how might he connect a lightbulb to it? Why did he marry a woman who makes such outrageous demands?!

Will our hero reach his goal? Only time will tell. (And hopefully not much more of it.)

  1. So funny! I love that I keep giving my husband tasks (that get progressively more difficult) and he keeps completing his levels too. Yay for handy husbands!

  2. I need Nate to read your blog to make me appear sane. Just saying. 😉

  3. Good luck to Andy on his epic quest! That will look amazing if he can pull it off!

  4. Haha- loved this post! That light is GORGEOUS! If he pulls it off, please tell him to write a detailed tutorial so us mere mortals with very little math skill can build our own too!

  5. Good luck, Andy! You can do it!

  6. HA. HA HA HA. HA.

You know I married a musician. I keep trying to get him to sing to things to see if they will magically construct themselves into fabulous pieces because of his beautiful voice. Shockingly it’s not happened….yet.

Can’t wait to see the finished product.

  7. I believe in you Andy!
